Roshan Peiris

Roshan Peiris, graduated from the University of Moratuwa with a bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering. After joining the Mixed Reality Lab at the National University of Singapore where he worked as a Research Engineer, he continued on to further his studies starting a PhD degree with the NUS Graduate School for Integrative Sciences and Engineering. Roshan recently submitted his PhD thesis titled “Development of an Integrated Programmable Non Emissive Textile Display Material” and is awaiting results.

His main research areas include ubiquitous and ambient computing, assistive technologies, embedded systems, etc. For his PhD research Roshan engineered a textile material that can change color within itself opening up new possibilities for ubiquitous and ambient applications. He has published this work in many international conferences and journals and has exhibited at leading media arts venus such as Ars Electronica. Currently he is exploring furthering this technology into other materials such as paper and investigating its commercialization possibilities. In addition, at the Augmented Senses group he is working on assistive technologies related projects.
